James Buum

In the spring of 2025, James noticed unexplained bruising that led him to seek medical care. Bloodwork revealed low red and white blood cell counts, and he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), an aggressive form of leukemia that required immediate treatment. On June 24, James was admitted to Mayo Clinic and began intensive chemotherapy. After months of treatment, James underwent a bone marrow transplant on November 13, a critical step in his recovery. The weeks following the procedure required close monitoring and included a short hospital stay due to complications, but James continued to push forward with strength and resilience. Recovery has brought challenges, including fatigue and difficulty eating as treatments affected his appetite and taste. Slowly, progress has followed. James is regaining strength and celebrating small milestones along the way. A beloved husband to Quinn and proud father to Charlotte and Maeve, James continues to face each step with courage and determination, surrounded by the support and love of family and friends.
