Mary and Jordan built a beautiful family of 6. Life was perfect until that day in December 2024. They were told their little girl, two-year-old Sawyer, has Leukemia. Sawyer was diagnosed with T Cell Leukemia. Everything changed for them at that point. Their little girl started treatment immediately at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. Sawyer developed Tumor Lusis Syndrome after treatment began. This happens when cancer cells fall apart and flood the bloodstream with chemicals and toxins faster than the body can get rid of them. Sawyer is undergoing chemotherapy, blood transfusions, biopsies and everything medical professionals administer to treat Sawyer. At the same time, Mary and Jordan are struggling to care for their three other children and life in general.
Mary posts to CaringBridge regularly to keep family and friends updated. Sawyer is strong and puts the nurses and doctors in “jail” when she’s unhappy with them. She tells them that she’s all better. She told Mary, “Mommy, it’s okay” when she saw her mother’s tears.
Sawyer’s mass has begun to shrink. Sawyer will continue to undergo more chemotherapy and procedures for years to treat leukemia.
