LOGAN HOVANETZ

Logan is a 7th grader at Elk River and was born with what was thought to be a diaper rash that quickly consumed his entire body.  He was diagnosed with KID Syndrome which includes Keratitis (vision loss), Ichthyosis (skin sores) and Deafness. Because less than 100 cases in the world are documented, there is no known cure.  Along with limited mobility, Logan battles chronic infections due to all his open wounds.  He has monthly infusions to help boost his immune system and lives on antibiotics.  Logan is involved in clinical trials in hopes that in the future something will be developed that can help someone else out even if it can’t help him.  Despite living in constant pain, Logan is upbeat and has a zest for life.  He has a love for hockey and currently plays for the MN Wild Sled Hockey Team.
