In January of 2022 Daniel was diagnosed with stage 3 metastatic melanoma. Upon diagnosis, Dan visited the Mayo clinic to undergo tests and come up with a treatment plan. After 10 weeks of treatment a PET scan showed the tumor/mass had shrunk significantly and Dan would undergo surgery to remove the remainder of the mass. In December of 2023 Dan started to take a turn for the worse. He was admitted to the hospital the day after Christmas and doctors started him on 10 full rounds of brain radiation and new chemotherapy. On February 3rd, 2024 Dan succumbed to his 2-year battle leaving behind his wife Maggie and their sons Spencer and Wesley. He was the sole provider for his family while Maggie was busy taking care of their boys. Dan was a devoted father and spent his free time coaching, teaching, chauffeuring and doing anything he could for Spencer and Wesley. He was also an avid fisherman and could be found on the ice, lake and ocean using his latest homemade gear to reel in the big ones.
